Moke to be released only as EVs from 2022 on

The use of aluminium panels has reduced the weight of the vehicle, while the instant torque from the electric motor enhances acceleration.

Moke International says that all Moke models will be electric by Jan. 1, 2022, adding from then on it will no longer be possible to order internal combustion engine (ICE) Mokes. The company says the new Moke can reach 55 km/h (approx. 34 mph) in 4.5 seconds. The vehicle has a maximum power of 33Kw and weighs just 800 Kg (approx. 1,763 lbs.). The vehicle’s range is 144km (approx. 89 miles). Charging takes four hours on the Type 2 EU Standard and top speed is 100km/h (approx. 62 mph).

All Mokes can be ordered in right- or left-hand drive. Prices start at £29,150 (approx. $33,824). Deliveries will be made in time for the 2022 European summer, the company says. All electric Mokes will be manufactured in the United Kingdom at a facility operated by the Fablink Group. The company is headquartered in Northamptonshire.

The new electric Moke has been designed from the ground-up, the company says. The use of aluminium panels has reduced the weight of the vehicle for a more agile ride, while the instant torque from the electric motor enhances acceleration and driveability. The electric Moke benefits from a number of other updates across the vehicle from improved braking systems to increased occupant and pedestrian safety features. The company also features power-steering, regenerative braking and heated windscreens.
