Eaton partners with ChargeLab on EV load management

Eaton said its software creates a digital twin of an existing electrical system to stretch available electrical capacity.

Eaton said it’s looking to reduce the complexity of installing EV charging stations by introducing an automated load management approach to maximize the charging capabilities of existing electrical systems. The solution was developed in collaboration with ChargeLab, a developer of open EV charger management software.

Eaton said its Charging Network Manager software is a fully integrated monitoring, management and commissioning software for EV charging stations and networks. The platform creates a digital twin of the electric system to safely stretch available electrical capacity.

“Electrifying transportation has a cascading impact on infrastructure. At Eaton, we’re creating new opportunities for customers to manage power far more effectively and make the most of energy infrastructure,” Paul Ryan, general manager of Connected Solutions and EV Charging at Eaton, said. “We’re bringing end-to-end solutions for charging infrastructure to the table and helping customers creatively manage their options to quickly and safely deploy EV charging networks.”

Eaton said this Charging Network Manager software can monitor charging station energy usage in real-time, reallocate power as available to other networked chargers and balance energy demand across three-phase power systems.
