Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) reported that first-quarter sales of electrified vehicles totaled 132,938, representing 25.8% of the company’s total sales volume (that’s up from 22.9% during the same period last year). March sales of electrified vehicles represented 25.4% of total sales volume.
The company says RAV4 Hybrid sales were up 34.9% in March on a volume basis; up 32.2% for the quarter on a volume basis. RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sales were up 42.3% in March on a volume basis; up 87.4% for the quarter on a volume basis.
Although March sales of electrified vehicles in the company’s Lexus division totaled 5,683, up less than 1% on a volume basis (first-quarter sales of electrified vehicles totaled 13,116, up nearly 1% on a volume basis), the company said ES Hybrid sales were up 5.4% in March on a volume basis; up 23.0% for the quarter on a volume basis. In addition, NX Hybrid sales were up 38.2% in March on a volume basis.
