Technology is now capable of electrifying safer, larger, more powerful vehicles – and relatively cheaply, too.
Sony Group Corporation (Sony) and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda) have signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines their intent to establish a joint venture (new company) through which they plan to engage in the joint development and sales of high value-added battery electric vehicles (EVs) and commercialize them in conjunction with providing mobility services.
Sony exhibited an SUV-type prototype vehicle, the Vision-S 02, at CES 2022. This vehicle uses the same EV/cloud platform as the prototype Vision-S 01, which is being tested on public roads. In order to further accelerate and make new proposals that further evolve the mobility experience, Sony will establish an operating company “Sony Mobility Inc.”
